A rare and captivating original Japanese woodblock print (moku-hanga) by the renowned Shin-hanga master Ohara Koson. Titled Eagle on a Snowy Branch (鷲), this stunning vertical composition (o-tanzaku format) showcases an eagle perched with quiet dignity on a snow-laden bough as fine flakes drift around it. Koson is celebrated for his naturalistic kacho-ga (bird-and-flower) imagery, and this piece demonstrates incredible artistry, from the meticulously rendered feather textures to the subtle woodgrain texture visible in the soft grey background wash. The piece features the artist’s characteristic ‘Koson’ signature and red seal in the lower-left corner. The reverse shows the beautiful ink bleed-through expected of authentic, hand-pressed woodblocks, along with historical vintage dealer/collection pencil marks. Unframed. Condition: Good vintage condition. The print retains strong, crisp linework and beautiful coloration. There is some minor age-related toning/browning to the paper margins and top edge, consistent with age, but the central image remains vibrant and striking. No major tears or creases. Please see photos to inspect margins and reverse. Dimensions: * Approx. 37 cm x 21 cm (standard o-tanzaku size)
